Manolin Privacy Policy

Manolin ("us," "we," or "our") operates the manolinaqua.com website, Watershed, Harpoon, and the Manolin API (collectively, the "Service"). "Manolin" means Manolin, Inc. and Manolin AS (Norway); see Section 2 of our Terms of Service for which entity you're contracting with. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have about that data.

We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined here, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms of Service, available at manolinaqua.com.

The Manolin Network

When we say the "Manolin Network," we mean our anonymized and aggregated data analytics platform that enables the aquaculture industry to make better decisions. The Manolin Network also provides business-specific tools that allow farmers and the supporting industry to put their own data to use in managing their business operations. By using the Services, you grant us the right to use anonymized, aggregated data drawn from across the Manolin Network to build shared models, produce benchmarks, and conduct studies, including Harpoon supplier studies, for the aquaculture industry. We will never identify your farm to a study sponsor or other party unless you've agreed to it. Data you choose to share with us across Watershed, Harpoon, and other Manolin products, or bring over from third parties, may be used together and not just within the individual Service you are using.

Information We Collect From You

We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you. While using our Service, we may ask you to provide certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). Personal Data may include, but is not limited to:

  • Email address
  • First name and last name
  • Cookies and Usage Data

We may also collect information on how the Service is accessed and used ("Usage Data"). Usage Data may include your computer's Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service you visit, the time and date of your visit, time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our Service and hold certain information.

Cookies are files with a small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device. We also use beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyze our Service.

If you are located in Norway or the European Economic Area, non-essential cookies are set only after you actively consent through our cookie banner, which offers accept and reject options of equal prominence. You can withdraw consent at any time through that banner. If you are located elsewhere, you can instruct your browser to refuse cookies, though this may prevent you from using some portions of our Service.

Security and Service Providers

The security of your data is important to us, but no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"), to provide the Service on our behalf, to perform Service-related services, or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

We may use analytics tools, which may include Google Analytics, to monitor and analyze use of our Service. We may also use HubSpot to send promotional emails and track email opens and click-through rates, as well as activity on our website, to help us update, expand, and analyze our records and identify new customers. Where required by law, these tools operate only after you've given consent through our cookie banner or a marketing opt-in.

How Do We Use Your Data?

We collect and process your data from you only where:

  • we have your consent;
  • we need your data to perform a contract with you or provide a service for you;
  • the processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms; or
  • we need to comply with legal requirements, including applicable laws and regulations.

Manolin uses the collected data for various purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Service
  • To notify you about changes to our Service
  • To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Service when you choose to do so
  • To provide customer care and support
  • To provide analysis or valuable information so that we can improve the Service
  • To monitor usage of the Service
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues
  • To send you marketing communications, where you've given separate, opt-in consent

How Do We Share Your Data?

We believe farmers and processors own the information generated by their operations. We do not sell your data. We do not share information that identifies your farm with another party unless you've agreed to it. Anonymized data is used for models, benchmarks, and studies, as described above under The Manolin Network.

We may disclose your Personal Data in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: comply with a legal obligation; protect and defend the rights or property of Manolin; prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service; protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public; or protect against legal liability.

We may share your data for the purposes in this Policy with: Manolin, Inc. and Manolin AS, who maintain the confidentiality and security of data they handle on each other's behalf; your agents, representatives, and other persons acting on your behalf or to whom you instruct or authorize us to disclose your data; third parties necessary to administer services to you, such as IT, data-processing, and payment-processing providers, which must agree to privacy standards similar to this Policy; our agents and representatives, such as attorneys and auditors; government, legal, regulatory, or supervisory authorities under applicable law; and prospective purchasers and assignees if our business, or a portion of it, is sold or assigned.

Your information may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside your state, province, or country, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United States and Norway, your data will typically be transferred to and processed in one or both of those countries. Manolin will take reasonably necessary steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy.

Sharing Your Data with Other Manolin Members and Professionals

The Services allow you to grant other users on your account permission to access your data. This can include other Manolin members and individuals or businesses with professional accounts, such as veterinarians, feed formulators, experts, and consultants ("Professionals"). Please ensure your sharing settings are configured to your preferences before sharing your data, by clicking Account, then My Team, then Manage Permissions, and selecting your sharing preferences. To the extent you share your data with others, you grant them a license to use and exercise all rights in it, as permitted by the functionality of the Services. We are not responsible for how others use your data, or the advice or information they provide you when you share it.

We may also use and share data on an aggregate or anonymized basis, such that it does not identify individuals, your company, or your sites, for various business purposes where permissible under applicable law. We own the Manolin services and content, including aggregated and/or anonymized data, analytics, and benchmarking.

For Norway / EEA Users Only

If your personal data is protected by the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to: know what data we hold about you; access it or receive a portable copy of it; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; restrict or object to certain processing; and withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active, and afterward only as long as legal, accounting, or contractual duties require. The thirty (30) days referenced elsewhere in this Policy and in our Terms of Service is the window to request a copy of your data after your account ends; it is not a deletion date.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with Datatilsynet, Norway's data protection authority, if you believe our processing of your personal data violates applicable law. You may also contact us directly at support@manolinaqua.com to exercise any of the rights above.

For Chile Users Only

[This section will be added when Chile's Ley 21.719 takes effect, currently expected December 1, 2026. It will state the rights the law requires — access, rectification, deletion, objection, portability, and blocking — and Manolin's 30-calendar-day window to respond to a request, extendable once for justified cause.]

We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Changes To This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the effective date above. We will also let you know via email and/or a prominent notice on our Service before a change becomes effective. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
